Bahrain Mirror: The family of political prisoner Mohammad Hassan Al-Raml, currently held in Jaw Central Prison, has expressed deep concern for his well-being following his transfer to isolation under poor conditions. Al-Raml has recently undergone another surgery due to medical negligence, where he was not provided the necessary medications for recovery.
In a voice recording released on Monday, July 8, 2024, the family stated, "The prison administration recently transferred Mohammad from the military hospital back to isolation, where he was placed in an uninhabitable cell infested with insects, to which he is allergic. This has caused him to vomit and secrete blood."
The family added that "the prison administration took Mohammad to the same hospital to perform another hernia operation due to the ongoing neglect of his deteriorating health by the prison administration and the General Secretariat for Grievances."
They went on to say that they are deeply worried about his health. "Even after the surgery, they do not provide him with the necessary medications for his condition to improve, nor do they follow up on his treatment. We feel that they want to get rid of him, to let him die in prison, and then claim he passed away," the family stressed.
Holding the prison administration and its officers responsible for Mohammad's safety due to the harsh treatment he has endured, the family demanded "his unconditional release before he becomes a martyr." They emphasized that "the chronic illnesses he suffers from are a result of his imprisonment, medical neglect, and mistreatment. He did not have these conditions before his arrest, while his right to medical treatment is guaranteed by the constitution."
The family also indicated that "what is happening to Mohammad behind closed doors is likely much worse than we know."
